Why AoV is always misapplied

In over 87% of the 2,000 funds now been reviewed we have found that AoV has either been misapplied or overscored due to misapplication in one or more of the 7 key criteria areas. The often sea of 'Green' or 'Ticks' can be misleading and with limited commentary / narrative to support the assessment, the regulator is continuing to focus on this particular area. Following a recent meeting with the regulator it was interesting to note that the regulator does see a value in an independent depositary model in the world of fund oversight. Currently the industry mainly only offers depositary services to fund providers if they add additional services such as custody or fund accounting with only one provider happy to provide a truly stand alone independent depositary offering and that is Natwest.
